Daniel D. Levian was an extraordinary person. While his vibrant smile, witty humor and energetic personality brightened the lives of many, Daniel’s impact on his family, friends, and the greater community is immeasurable. He sought any opportunity to spread a sense of optimism to others. The vibrancy of Daniel’s spirit and the magnitude of his presence could lighten up a room, instantly turning him into the center of attention. In this respect, Daniel was an individual of great vitality. His zest for life was a window into his soul. He imparted an invigorating energy onto his family members and friends –encouraging them to aspire toward their goals and ambitions. For this reason, many not only look back upon Daniel with an appreciation for his compassionate character, but also remember him with gratitude for his ability to inspire and touch those around him.

He believed that the human experience is a magnificent blessing, and honored it every day by living generously. His tremendous love for his family and friends was part of his oath to generosity. Ultimately, Daniel’s legacy lies in the power of his conviction and character.

Daniel was born on July 28, 1982 in Los Angeles, California.  As a graduate of Milken Community High School, Daniel was well regarded among his peers as a loyal, caring friend. An intellectual and scholar in his own right, Daniel was committed to the pursuit of higher knowledge both in the academic setting and from the world at large. Throughout his adolescence and adulthood, Daniel loved the thrill of competitive sports, the leisure of traveling, and the bonds that developed while spending time with his family and friends. By the age of twenty-one, Daniel graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

Upon graduating UCLA, Daniel began practicing as an investment broker at Marcus & Millichap. With an entrepreneurial spirit and steadfast dedication toward achieving his goals, Daniel independently pursued domestic and international business ventures.  In the spirit of true entrepreneurship, Daniel and his brother, Korosh, founded a corporation, Century 26, and worked on the development of a product patent. Those around Daniel were continuously in awe and admiration for his ability to communicate effectively with a special charisma and eloquence. Daniel quickly earned recognition as an ambitious, successful businessman.

Inspired by his brothers, Daniel sought to emulate them and the integrity lying within their actions and attitude. Throughout his life, Daniel embraced his Jewish faith and cultural identity. Every day, Daniel wore tefillin, allowing his soul to experience what he called an “inner peace.” The radiation of his energies onto others stemmed from an inner devotion that resonated in his spiritual connection with God.

On July 12, 2008, Daniel was the unfortunate victim of a drunk-driving accident. The impact that his death left on those around him is beyond measure. As the sheer magnitude of his death jolted our community at its core, it had also raised an inter-generational issue within the Los Angeles youth. In an effort to honor Daniel’s life and to create a socially-conscious, informed and unified community, his friends and family gathered in unison to create The LEV Foundation in honor of Daniel D. Levian.
